A Personal Message from Richard Lloyd

Dear Voter,

As you are aware, the traffic along Rt. 29N is getting more congested and dangerous each day. Due to a series of poor transportation decisions, you and your neighbors now have to deal with this situation daily. For too long, our transportation decisions have been made without the benefit of a long term regional traffic study. Instead of looking for permanent solutions, our state and local officials relied on short term solutions. Building roadways through our neighborhoods should never be a solution.

In addition to your traffic problems, you face the ever increasing growth in housing and commercial development. The same individuals who decided that creating log jams and diverting highway traffic to your neighborhoods, also decided to allow a majority of the residential and commercial developments to occur at your front door. Again, our officials have taken the easy route when dealing with development: just build it on 29N. We need to rethink our comprehensive plan in order to relieve the pressures on our roads, neighborhoods and, especially, our schools. Your neighborhoods are being forced to accept the consequences for the poor planning by our county officials.

I pledge to you, if elected, that I will put my 40 years of problem solving experience to work for you. You made the choice to live in Albemarle County, and you elect its officials. It is their responsibility to make the tough, thoughtful decisions that will bring you confidence and peace of mind in your decisions.

I ask you for your support and your vote on November 3rd.

Sincerely,

Richard Lloyd
